ECHO is an AI-powered platform that provides real-time assistance during interviews—for candidates and interview teams. Depending on how you use the product, we may process spoken audio, text such as transcripts and chat, optional screen-related signals, and profile details you choose to share.

This Privacy Policy describes what personal information we collect, why we use it, how we protect it, and the choices available to you. By using ECHO’s websites or apps (the “Service”), you acknowledge this policy alongside our Terms of Service.

2. Information we collect

(a) Information you provide

  • Name, if you add it to your profile or invitations.
  • Email address for login, billing, and product communication.
  • Resume or profile fields you upload—such as role, experience, education, or links—when those features are available.
  • Payment-related details handled by our payment processors.

(b) Automatically collected data

  • Microphone audio when you enable listening or Live features (subject to your settings and consent where required).
  • Text derived from conversations—such as transcripts and prompts used to generate insights.
  • Usage data: device type, approximate region from IP (for security and localization), timestamps, logs, crash reports, and feature usage.

(c) Optional data you can turn on

When you enable optional features such as screen understanding (OCR), we may process pixels or screen content strictly to deliver that feature unless you disable it or revoke permission in product settings or your operating system.

3. How we use information

  • To provide the Service: transcription, translation, suggestions, scoring cues, coding feedback, and session controls.
  • To maintain and improve reliability, accuracy, product design, and customer support.
  • To personalize what you see—such as relevant prompts or contextual help—within your account.
  • To monitor abuse, fraud, spam, or misuse and to keep accounts secure.
  • To communicate about subscriptions, incidents, updates, or legal notices when needed.

4. AI processing

ECHO relies on AI systems to interpret audio and text and to generate responses or evaluations in real time. Outputs are produced automatically and may vary in quality depending on inputs and context.

Your content may be sent—temporarily—to AI infrastructure we or our vendors operate so we can return results to you. We minimize what we send to what is needed for the requested feature.

5. Data storage

We store personal data using industry-standard safeguards. Some information may be cached briefly to reduce latency during active sessions or to replay recent transcripts as you work.

How long we keep data depends on what it is (for example billing records vs. transcripts), legal requirements, and whether you delete content or close your account. Exact retention periods may evolve as the product grows.

6. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information.

We work with trusted providers—such as cloud hosting, AI models, analytics, email delivery, and payments—who process data only to help us run ECHO. We share the minimum necessary and require appropriate protections.

We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of our users and the Service.

7. User control

Where available in the product, you can update profile details, manage certain session artifacts, and contact us to request deletion of your account or specific data.

You can turn optional capabilities on or off—such as OCR or screen-related features—through product settings or device permissions (for example microphone or screen capture access).

Depending on where you live, you may also have legal rights to access, correct, export, restrict, or object to processing. Reach out at privacy@echo.ai and we will respond within a reasonable time.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.

No online service can promise perfect security. Please use a strong password, enable multi-factor authentication when offered, and report suspicious activity promptly.

9. Cookies and analytics

Our websites may use cookies or similar technologies for essential functions, preferences, or basic analytics so we understand traffic and improve the experience. Where required, we will ask for consent before non-essential cookies or tracking.

10. Children’s privacy

ECHO is not intended for children under 13, or under the minimum age required in your region to consent to data processing without parental approval. If you believe we collected data from a child inappropriately, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as ECHO evolves. When we make material changes, we will post the new version here and update the “Last updated” date.

If you continue using the Service after changes take effect, that generally means you accept the updated policy. If you disagree, you should stop using ECHO or delete your account where available.
